The proposed new gateway presents an opportunity to make a great first impression and tell all visitors who Bossier is:  A patriotic community and the proud home of Barksdale AFB.  Our solution contains 3 parts:  

  • A 199’ tall flagpole topped with a 30’ x 50’ flag, visible for miles.
  • A pair of restored B-52 wings flanking the flagpole, symbolizing Bossier’s connection to Barksdale.  Lights in the engine housing illuminate the flag at night.
  • A large LED sign proclaiming: WELCOME TO BOSSIER, HOME OF BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE.   The sign can be programmable to advertise upcoming community events.
